  • Late Transitional Sallet - 14 gauge

Near to the end of 15th-century, sallets began a transformation into the shapes known as "transitional". This replica is based on a piece known as A72 from the Wallace Collection dated on 1520 and is attributed to have been manufactured in the north of Italy. This style of sallet can be seen in the painting by Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc in his piece “Castles and Warfare in the Middle Ages”.

  • Spanish Comb Morion - 14 gauge

The Morion Helmet was popular with the foot soldiers of European armies in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is thought to have originated in Spain and would certainly have been worn by soldiers of the Spanish Armada. This style of helmet is associated with soldiers of the English Civil War where it was commonly known as a "Pikeman's Pot".

They were predominantly worn by the soldiers of Cromwell's New Model Army, along with breastplates and buff coats. Surviving morions from the siege of Colchester Castle in 1648 have been unearthed within its grounds and are now preserved in the castle. Some of the best-preserved morions from the English Civil War can now be seen in the Royal Armouries collection in Leeds.

Suitable for 16th & 17th-century re-enactment, especially English Civil War Pikemen.

Manufactured in 2mm steel, with a 1.6mm brim and plume to the rear.

  • Early Bascinet with Visor - 14 gauge

Bascinets were one of the favourite choices of helmet in the 14th century and 15th century. It was probably an evolution of the cabasset used under the helmet by both cavalry and infantry. Some variations of this item were used with coif instead of aventail. This design is based on several artistic representations dating from the first quarter of the 14th century and is common in the Spanish peninsula.

Its pyramidal grill system in the visor offers an excellent defence as well as an optimal vision. The visor is foldable and has a pin system that allows a quick unmount if needed. Made in 2mm steel with 1.6mm visor. Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafted methods used in its manufacture. The steel is untreated and may have rust. To protect the steel you may rub it with mineral or synthetic oil. Leather chin strap included.

    Size M: 60-61 cm perimeter
