  • Gauntlets 1350-1415 L

A weapon master of the fifteenth century said that the hands are an elusive goal because their movement is their best defence. True, fencing protects hands against opponents but in the midst of a skirmish, when clashes are multitudinous and blows can come from anywhere, just a clash of arms could get your fingers badly injured. This is why gauntlets are considered indispensable in recreation and in many battles, both now and then. Gauntlets of the middle XIV century tended to be short bodied, without joints, allowing movement of the wrist by the hourglass shape that some, such as these had. Examples like these gauntlets can be seen in various representations throughout the fourteenth century and fifteenth centuries, demonstrating the reliability of their design.

Made of 1.6mm steel. Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafted methods used in its manufacturing. The steel is untreated and may have rust. To protect the steel you may rub it with mineral or synthetic oil.

The high-quality leather glove attached is stitched to the tip of the fingers, so it is easily removed, replaced or repaired. This item is made from natural leather. It may have small marks on its surface, imperfections or won´t be 100% homogeneous. Roughness and colour may vary from piece to piece. The dying process is made using traditional techniques so final colour may vary depending on leather´s original tone.
