Marto

Marto is a manufacturer of traditional swords, located in Toledo, Spain. Marto has collected over 100 years of knowledge and experience in the specialised craft of their swords, armour and weapons.

Marto was founded to regain the testimony and the techniques of the sword master-craftsman tradition which was so prominent in Toledo. Marto is very proud to maintain to this day the “Secret of the Templar” when manufacturing their swords, giving prestige and continuity to the famous Toledo Steel.

  • Medieval Swiss Halberd

    The two-handed Halberd or Pike has been a staple in medieval warfare for years. The combined functions of an axe and a spear make this a formidable piece of battle hardware. This 14th - 15th Century Swiss Halberd, by Marto, is a replica of the Pike design used by the early Swiss armies to repel military attacks and proved its effectiveness in defeating the enemy.

    The handle of this Halberd is made of wood and is adorned with two fringed fabric plumes. The head is made of cast metal and consists of three features. A frontal axe-head with a single curved edge, a rear hooked talon, and a central fluted spike. The cast metal head displays a highly decorative engraved floral design as this item is meant for display purposes, not for use.

  • Royal Scottish Claymore

    The Scottish Claymore Sword was the typical weapon of the Highland warriors since the late Middle Age, 15th to 17th century. This large two-handed broad sword was considered a rough tool, although effective. It was King James I's effective use of the Claymore sword that made it one of the symbols of national Scottish pride. The Claymore sword, feared because of its size and strength, was used in the constant clan wars as well as against the English as late as the Rebellion of 1745.

    This Scottish Claymore by Marto of Toledo, Spain, has a double-edged blade made of the finest tempered stainless steel and decorated with engravings on the upper part of the blade. The hilt is made in burnished cast metal with decorations in gold and silver-plated metal. The spheric pommel is also in cast metal, whilst the long tapered handgrip is wood.
