Ronin Katana

Ronin katana was founded in 2005 and has grown into one of the worlds largest sword brands with over 100 unique models of katana and medieval swords. Our dojo pro line of samurai swords are based on actual Japanese antiques.

All of our samurai swords and medieval swords are forged by hand with high carbon steel blades. We specialize in Japanese katana for use in a dojo or backyard setting, entry level samurai swords, complex laminated samurai swords historically made by the Japanese, Chinese dao and Jian, medieval swords, Japanese tanto, wakizasi, and swords forged from meteorites.

These are designed as entry level backyard cutters and are rated for use on water bottles, pool noodles, and single soaked tatami mats. These katana should not be used on hard targets, as damage will occur to the blade.

This Ronin Elite katana has been traditionally forged and laminated in the soshu kitae tradition (seven panel steel). This school was developed by the legendary Japanese smith Masamune, and combines panels of hard, medium, and soft steels. The core of the blade is formed from softer, more malleable steel giving it exceptional flexibility. A layer of slightly harder steel is bonded to each side of the core to add support.

The last layers are very hard steel bonded to the top, bottom, and both sides of the core forming the ha (cutting edge) mune (back edge) and shinogi-ji (blade flats). This form of laminar construction provided for a sword that could be sharpened to a razor edge due to the hardened steel used for the ha, but was extremely resilient to battle damage due to its softer more flexible core.

Inspired by the famous Japanese samurai, Hatori Hanzo, the Hanzo Steel katana have been forged from differentially hardened 1060 steel, and have a real hamon. These blades have a titanium coating, and come with a back wearable leather wrapped sheath. Ready for cutting right out of the box.
