Exquisitely handcrafted in stainless steel with a polished finish. At the shields heart is a red Celtic Cross. The Celtic cross is a form of Christian cross featuring a nimbus or ring that emerged in Ireland and Britain in the Early Middle Ages. The four arms of the Celtic cross are thought to be representative of the four directions of the compassion, the four elements of Fire, Earth, Air, and Water, and as a representation of our mind, soul, body, and heart.

Similar crosses have been associated with European continental areas of Celtic cultures, such as Normandy, Brittany, or Auvergne in France, or Asturias and Galicia in Northern Spain, among others.

The triangular shield, known as a kite shield, is double reinforced steel with triple reinforced corners. Beautifully embellished detailing of riveted golden studding against a natural steel finish and adds to the stunning contrast which make this shield so exquisite.

Comes with an attached hanging chain on the back which allows for easy wall mounting.

The Clan Macleod Family Sword was wielded by the immortal Connor Macleod in the cult 80’s movie Highlander. He used it from the time of his first battle with the Kurgan and Clan Fraser in 1536 up until the death of his wife in 1590 where it was used as a grave marker. He returns in 1995 to retrieve the sword after his katana is broken by the immortal Kane. The sword is still in place although worn by the ravages of time.

The Order of Calatrava was one of the four Spanish military orders and the first military order founded in Castile, but the second to receive papal approval. The papal bull confirming the Order of Calatrava as a Militia was given by Pope Alexander III on September 26, 1164. It was said that even when outnumbered more than ten to one, the Knights of the Calatrava were still victorious. The Calatrava Cross had truly protected them. It is believed that he who harnessed the power of the Four Triads represented by the Calatrava Cross would find success in all areas of life.

Our Sword Mount Plaque is hand-crafted from oak and stained with a dark brown finish. It features a scissor-style wall hanger (not pre-attached) that will vertically hang most of the Medieval or Viking style swords in our range. This mount will work with swords that have scabbards, as long as the scabbard is a tight enough fit not to slip off the blade.

This mount will not work with large hilts found on basket hilt swords, rapiers, sabres and military swords. If unsure, please contact us for guidance.
