  • Sgian Dubh (Flat Handle)

    The Sgian Dubh evolved from a larger Scottish dagger that was normally concealed under the armpit. It was common practice when visiting friends to remove this dagger from its hiding place and insert it in the top of your sock so that is could be seen at all times. Sgian Dubh translates as “Black Knife” in the old Gaelic language. 

    Our Sgian Dubh features a blunt steel blade, hardwood grip and decorated cast steel fittings. It comes complete with a leather covered wooden sheath.

    Our rustic looking Clan Macleod Scottish Dirk from the Jacobite period features a plain hand-forged steel blade topped by a hardwood handle with brass studding. The handle has brass fittings and is topped by the Clan Macleod Badge (a bulls head between 2 flags) and the motto "Hold Fast" in brass.

  • Sinclair Sabre - Scottish Cutlass

    The Sinclair Sabre is a type of cutlass also known as a Dusägge (or Dusack). It was named after George Sinclair, a mercenary captain from Scotland whose men frequently carried these swords.

    In 1612 he was transported by the pirate captain Robert Stewart to fight the Danes but ambushed and killed when leading his men against Norwegian militia.

    Our Sinclair Sabre features a forged EN45 high carbon steel blade. The steel basket hilt and pommel are blued, contrasting with the sea-green leather wrapped grip – cleverly wrapped to feature St. Andrew’s Cross. The wooden scabbard features matching blued steel fittings and is wrapped in a deep sea-green leather. This sword has a blunt blade and is not suitable for contact re-enactment.

    Sir William Wallace was a Scottish knight and one of the main leaders in the Wars of Scottish Independence.  In September 1297 he defeated the English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. After the battle he was appointed Guardian of Scotland and served until he was defeated at the Battle of Falkirk in 1298. He continued to fight for Scottish independence until he was captured in 1305 executed in London for crimes of High Treason.  In death his exploits passed into legend. Sir Walter Scott wrote about him in “Exploits and Death of William Wallace – the “Hero of Scotland”.
