Our “Deluxe” range of swords have a much more decorated finish than their plain counterparts. The hilt fittings and grips are painted with bright enamel paint to accentuate the details of the intricate designs. On some swords in the range, gold paint is also used to give the swords a “high status” look.
Ivanhoe is the title of the epic novel written by Sir Walter Scott and first published in 1820. It is set in 12th century England and features famous characters from the period such as Robin Hood and King Richard battling with the evil Prince John and his Templar allies. The hero of the tale, Wilfred of Ivanhoe, is a Saxon knight who is disinherited by his father for following King Richard on crusade. The story had a lasting impact on the Robin Hood legend and was also the inspiration behind the Egilton Tournament of 1839 where knights once again tilted in the lists.
