Our Lancelot Sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain.

Its heavily decorated hilt features a textured cross-guard with heraldic dragons motif at the centre and quillons terminating in boar’s heads. The pommel is decorated with Fleur du Lys and heraldic lions and tops a textured leather grip. The blunt stainless steel blade features etched heraldic decoration and is suitable for display only.

Excalibur (meaning to 'cut steel') was the great sword of King Arthur which 'gave light like 30 torches'. In the Arthurian stories, the name is given to two different swords - the one that the young king pulled from the anvil set in the stone before the church, and so proved his right to the kingship; and the other which the king took from the arm that rose above the surface of the lake, 'clothed in white samite, mystic, wonderful' and which eventually received back the sword when Arthur was dying.

King Arthur’s history and legend are intimately linked to the magic and mysterious sword “Excalibur”. As Merlin the wizard has proclaimed, only the one able to take the sword out of the stone would be the king. Legend and history were mixed through time and King Arthur’s legend, The Knights of the Round Table, and the magic sword “Excalibur” have intertwined along the way.

Arthur, knelt in front of the stone fulfilled this deed, took the sword, went with it to the cathedral, and offered it on the altar.
