Scottish Jacobite

The iconic Basket Hilt Sword was wielded by Jacobite warriors during the rebellions of 1715 and 1745. It was usually partnered with the Scottish targe shield and was used to devastating effect during the Highland Charge! After the rebellion had been suppressed, the wearing of Scottish Basket Hilt swords, synonymous with Highland dress, was outlawed. However, the sword was adopted by officers of the Highland regiments in the 19^th century.

Our Jacobite Basket Hilt Sword features a brass basket with red cloth lining. The hand forged high carbon steel blade has a blunt edge and is housed in a leather covered wood scabbard.

The 1828 Pattern Highland Officer’s Sword was issued to Officers of Scottish Highland Regiments such as the 92^nd Regiment of Foot – The Gordon Highlanders. It was carried throughout many campaigns throughout the 19^th Century and even saw service in WWI. Sergeants of such regiments were often issued with a plain bladed version.

Our 1828 Pattern Highland Officer’s Sword is handcrafted like the originals and features a forged and tempered AISI1065 High Carbon Steel blade. The steel hilt features a red cloth liner, brown leather grip and red pommel tassel. The etched blade is housed in an authentically styled steel scabbard.

The Sinclair Sabre is a type of cutlass also known as a Dusägge (or Dusack). It was named after George Sinclair, a mercenary captain from Scotland whose men frequently carried these swords.

In 1612 he was transported by the pirate captain Robert Stewart to fight the Danes but ambushed and killed when leading his men against Norwegian militia.

It was common practice when visiting friends to remove this dagger from its hiding place and insert it in the top of your sock so that is could be seen at all times. Sgian Dubh translates as “Black Knife” in the old Gaelic language.

A black leather covered scabbard, capped with nickel mounts, chiselled in high relief, topped with military regulation Queen's crown pommel over a black basket-weave stud-worked shaped grip. This beautifully made Officer Dirk has been styled on surviving historical specimens of the late 18th century. The natural finish hardwood hilt has been hand carved with vigorous Celtic knot work much in the style of the traditional early 18th century fighting dirks. A brass metal pommel cap and ferrule protect the wooden hilt against damage. The Scabbard is made in hardwood and covered in brown leather and brass detailing.

Our rustic looking Clan Macleod Scottish Dirk from the Jacobite period features a plain hand-forged steel blade topped by a hardwood handle with brass studding. The handle has brass fittings and is topped by the Clan Macleod Badge (a bulls head between 2 flags) and the motto "Hold Fast" in brass.
