North Italian Barbute - 16 gauge
The barbute (barbuta in Italian) was a helmet that was popular in Italy during the 15th century but less so throughout the rest of Europe. Our barbute is a replica of one on display in the Musee' de Armee, Paris. It probably dates from between 1460 -1470 and was made in the Lombard town of Missaglia.
