The King Harold Helmet features a simple dome of 18 gauge steel construction, designed to deflect sword blows and a decorated nasal bar to protect the face. It has an adjustable leather liner and buckled chin strap. Not suitable for contact reenactment.

Norman Helmet with Aventail
The Norman "Nasal" Helmet was based on earlier Viking Helmet designs and could be worn over a chainmail coif or with chainmail aventail to protect the neck. The nasal bar was designed to protect the face but meant that Knights were often unrecognisable. The famous Bayeux Tapestry shows William the Conqueror tipping his helmet back to reveal his face and prove to his soldiers that he was still alive!

MH Spangenhelm - 16 gauge
This helmet comes from a small group of closely related Spangenhelms (strap helmets). The sites where they have been found are widely scattered, ranging from Sweden to Germany, the Balkans and Libya. The Spangenhelm was a popular medieval European combat helmet design of Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. Over time Spangenhelms were replaced by one piece skulls like nasal helmets and kettle hats.

13th Century Conical Helmet - 14 gauge
After the Spangenhelm fell into disuse, helmets like this one came into warfare. They were known as conical or nasal helmets and these ones had a one piece skull protection. We can see plenty of depictions that features these helmets, like the “never failing” Maciejowski Bible.

Saint Wenceslaus I Nasal Helmet -14 gauge
This helmet was made after the one kept on the Prague Castle who supposedly belonged to Saint Wenceslaus I, a Czech monarch from the early 10th century. This is one of the earliest conical helmets made in one piece that at the time where starting to substitute the comparatively weaker Spangenhelms. It has a beautiful riveted cross-shaped nasal.
