Our wholesale articulated and wearable armour for trade is perfect for a variety of uses. It is great for battle re-enactment but also makes for a great display piece. It is available in a variety of thicknesses such as 14, 16 and 18 gauge covering safety requirements for most re-enactment groups.   

We stock a diverse range of chainmail (maille) for trade which is available in a series of different finishes and styles.  We also stock padded armour such as gambesons and arming caps to accompany this.

  • 15th Century Milanese Mitten Gauntlets - 16 gauge

    Fingerless mittens or gauntlets like these are common to see in different representations along the golden age of armour between 1400 and 1500. This particular model is based on the ones that can be found at the excellent Milanese armour known among experts as ´Avant´Armour because of the inscription repeated on its skirt. Used by cavalry and infantry alike, artistic representations show that they were especially used by those who normally wielded polearms.

  • Avant Milanese Cuisses (Leg Armour) - 16 gauge

    Our Avant Milanese Cuisses are modelled on those displayed on the famous Avant Armour on display in the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. This armour was made in Milan in around 1440 for a member of the Matchs family of Churburg Castle. It is constructed from 16 gauge steel making it great for re-enactment and features adjustable buckled leather straps.

  • German Gothic Leg Armour - 18 gauge

    This product has two parts. The upper part is the guisse with the poleyn (knee) and the second part is the greave.

    Guisse with Poleyn:
    45 cm from the inside part of thigh until the middle of the knee.
    44 cm from the upper part in the middle of guisse until the middle of the knee.
    57 cm total length.
    5.5 cm from the end of the knee (sharp point) until the first hole.
    7.5 cm from the end of the knee (sharp point) until the second hole.

    Greave:

  • MH Transitional Helmet - 16 gauge

    Sometimes knights will prioritise protection over vision for obvious reasons. The Topfhelm (literally Pot Helmet) has evolved from the less protective spangenhelm, and there is eveidence of its use during the late medieval ages.

    Our “Early Top Helmet” is one of the earlier versions of these Topfhelms, suitable for Knights and Infantrymen. Made in 1.6mm steel with natural canvas lining.

  • Sangüesa Transitional Helm - 14 gauge

    There are several examples of conical helmets with large facial visors. This one in particular is based on one found in the magnificent Romanesque portico of the church of Santa María la Real, in Sangüessa (Navarra). In the exterior archivolt you can see the professions of medieval society, including two armed men. One of them wearing a helmet like the one shown here. Other very similar ones can be seen in some codices of the same period.
