Saxon & Viking Scramasax
The Scramasax (Wounding-Knife in Frankish) is a Seax (Knife in Old English) used by the Saxons, whose name is derived from this weapon. Originally they started out as a secondary weapon to be used in conjunction with swords and spears etc but over time they became longer and narrower and became a primary fighting weapon. One of the most famous seaxes to be found is Britain is the Seax of Beagnoth which is now on display in the British Museum.
Our Saxon & Viking Scramasax features a forged high carbon steel blade with blackened steel Saxon styled fittings. The wire-bound grip is both decorative and functional. This well-made seax comes complete with a laced leather sheath.

Viking Long Seax with Leather Grip
Your enemies fear you in battle when you wield the Long Viking Seax against them. Made from EN45 high carbon steel, this robustly constructed dagger has a thick, tempered blade. The single-edged blade is blunted for stage combat. Two fullers run down the length of the blade near the spine. The fullers help to lighten the durable blade. The blade also features an angled tip, which is common for a seax. The seax continues with a disk-shaped crossguard with a blackened finish. Angled grooves adorn the sides of the guard. Then, the hilt has a brown, leather-wrapped grip. The hilt ends with a peened, mushroom-shaped pommel. Grooves also adorn the blackened steel pommel.

Seax of Beagnoth
The Seax of Beagnoth (also known as the Thames scramasax) is a 9th century Anglo-Saxon seax (single-edged knife). It was found in the River Thames in 1857, and is now at the British Museum in London.
On one side of the blade is the only known complete inscription of the twenty-eight letter Anglo-Saxon runic alphabet, as well as the name "Beagnoth" in runic letters. It is thought that the runic alphabet had a magical function, and that the name Beagnoth is that of either the owner of the weapon or the smith who forged it.
Although many Anglo-Saxon and Viking swords and knives have inscriptions in the Latin alphabet on their blades, or have runic inscriptions on the hilt or scabbard, the Seax of Beagnoth is one of only a handful of finds with a runic inscription on its blade. Our faithful replica is based on the dimensions of the original and has a hand forged steel blade with wood grip and hand crafted leather scabbard.
