  • Two Handed Warhammer

This weapon may look small and simple, but it is about as dangerous as a lance or sword! The soldier who was using a hammer like this would not have had to think long about how to place a cut at the weak point in plate armour. One or two well-aimed blows and the problem was solved. Beating on a knight's plate harness often enough or at exactly the right place can prevent him from breathing or crush him to death. Knights despised war hammers as not being chivalrous, but they did not disappear from battlefields until firearms were in widespread use.

This beast of a warhammer can only be wielded with two hands! The enormous head tops a thick wooden shaft which is reinforced by steel langets. Although it is well built and sturdy it is not recommended for practical use.

  • Celtic Dagger

The Celts were a group of tribal societies in Iron Age and Medieval Europe. They settled in Britain in around 500 BC and flourished until the Romans invaded in 55 BC. The most famous Celtic Queen was Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni Tribe. She attacked London in AD 60 but was eventually defeated in battle.

Our Celtic Dagger features and anthropomorphic hilt - the human form must have been intended to enhance the power of the owner and to bear a talismanic significance. The British Museum has some excellent examples of this style of dagger in their collection. This replica is of a type associated with the La Tène culture, named after the important Celtic site on Lake Neuchâtel in present-day Switzerland and eastern France. It features a polished copper alloy (Brass) hilt associated with high status. The blade is hand forged from steel and is housed in a hand-stitched leather sheath. This item has a blunt blade and is great for display or theatrical use.

  • Flintlock Pistol - 17th Century

Flintlock pistols were used as both military and self-defence weapons. Their effective range was much shorter than a musket and they were frequently used in combination with sword or cutlass. The flintlock mechanism was first added to pistols in 1610 and by 1630 they started to become more common. The Parliamentarian cavalry were known to use early forms of flintlock pistol during the English Civil War. They proved to be effective against the unarmoured musketeers but were no match for the armour worn by both pikemen and cavalry. During the 1700's flintlock pistols would be carried by army and navy officers, as well as more notorious characters such as pirates and highwaymen. The flintlock pistol remained popular until the middle of the 19th century when it was gradually replaced by the more reliable percussion cap pistol.

Our Flintlock Pistol is hand crafted in Italy. It features a real wood stock and cast metal parts with an antique finish. Although this item is designed and manufactured with display in mind, the firing mechanism does work and the hammer can be released by pulling the trigger. It is not possible to make this item fire and it is not suitable for re-enactment. It is great for Pirate cosplay and fancy dress!
