Charles I of Spain and V of the Holy Roman Empire, called "Caesar", is elected Holy Roman Emperor on the death of his grandfather Maximilian in 1519. Charles I of Spain and V of Germany was known in his time as "THE Emperor" since no king ever managed to gather under his command such an immense empire. 

He retired to the Monastery of Yuste where he remained a year and a half in retreat, away from the cities and political life, and accompanied by the order of the Jerónimos who spiritually guided the monarch until his last days. On 21 September 1558 he died of malaria. The coffin of Carlos I is located in the Royal Crypt of the Monastery of El Escorial known as the Pantheon of the Kings.

It is one of the most spectacular swords in the history of Spain. It is engraved with the coat of arms of the Habsburgs and those of the Empire of Castile-Leon-Granada, Aragon-Sicily, Austria, Burgundy, Bravante, Flanders and Tyrol.

The guard is filled with Celtic knotwork and adorn with Blue Sapphire Crystals, and bears a 3-crown Gold Shield of King Arthur's Crest. Finely detailed Dragon Serpents entangle where the guard meets the blade. Sir Francis Drake was a famous 1587th-century English sailor, explorer, politician, and vice-admiral of the British Royal Navy. He directed numerous naval expeditions against Spanish interests in Spain itself and in the Indies, being the second person to circumnavigate the world in a single expedition, after Elcano, and participating in the attack on Cadiz of 1589, the defeat of the Great and Congratulations Armada and the failed attack on La Coruña of XNUMX.

This was his sword. The sword of the English Corsair and Vice Admiral Sir Francis Drake has a half-loop handle with a straight cross. The knob is round and has a matching decoration with a guard and handguard.

Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur, sometimes attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Great Britain. The sword was associated with the Arthurian legend very early. In Welsh, the sword is called Caledfwlch; in Cornish, the sword is called Calesvol; in Breton, the sword is called Kaledvoulc'h; in Latin, the sword is called Caliburnus.

King Arthur’s history and legend are intimately linked to the magic and mysterious sword “Excalibur”. As Merlin the wizard has proclaimed, only the one able to take the sword out of the stone would be the king. Arthur, knelt in front of the stone fulfilled this deed, took the sword, went with it to the cathedral, and offered it on the altar.
